Today, I underwent another check to endorse me for solo navigation flights. This internal check is mandatory for all students as per our syllabus. Basically it was a regular cross-country flight using a paper chart, and we flew a very beautiful route.
I’m not scared of navigation flights, generally I do well. To be honest, during one of my early lessons, I misjudged my heading and deviated around five miles off course, but I eventually spotted Pilsen, a large city that made it easy to orient myself, and quickly corrected my track. But it was my only gross navigation mistake so far. Of course, I flew without a GPS that time, as I did on my flight today. I don’t anticipate any issues with cross-countries as I am becoming more and more familiar with the area.
Since the wind was calm and the landscape was stunning, the flight was peaceful and relaxing. Adding one more record to my logbook made the experience even more rewarding!
