Typically, students from our school who come from abroad opt for Tampa International Airport for their arrival or departure. It’s approximately 100 km away, and the common means of transportation is Uber. However, as flight school students, shouldn’t we utilize airplanes? Moreover, many of us require more flight time, so why not make it worthwhile?
Admittedly, large international airports necessitate experience, along with a special endorsement from the instructor and a reserved time slot. Thankfully, the US offers numerous airports, including smaller satellites located near major ones. In the case of Tampa, Tampa Executive (KVDF) is the most feasible option.
Tomorrow, as I head back home, I’ve arranged for a friend to accompany me on a flight to Tampa Executive, and return the airplane to the school afterwards. Yes, the fuel and rental costs are comparable to an Uber, but it’s invaluable flight time and a delightful experience!
