I was supposed to have my end-of-course check tomorrow, but my job unexpectedly requires me to be in Moscow before 2 pm MSK. This means that I have less than 21 hours to get from Crystal River, FL to Moscow, including booking flights and traveling to/from airports.
Luckily, it was still early in the day (about 9 am) when I got the message, which means that I still had some time. The closest airports to me are Tampa or Gainesville, but there are no direct flights to Moscow from either of them. Miami is much further away and I wouldn’t be able to reach it in time by ground transportation, so I had to find a connecting flight.
This was one of the craziest experiences of my life. I wasn’t able to find a real connecting flight, but I managed to book two separate flights and had to do online registration for the flight to Moscow while I was in the air traveling from Tampa to Miami. I had very little time to spare, but I made it in the end.
I’ll be back on Monday, and I had to ask about rescheduling my end-of-course check, but hopefully not by too much. I’m almost done!
